Canada Clinches A World Cup Berth To Qatar

Hello Soccer (Football) Fans,

After a 36-year drought Canada has clinched a berth into the 2022 World Cup of Soccer and booked their ticket to Qatar. The last and only time our squad had qualified was 1986 in Mexico. Albeit a historic moment, Canada had a lacklustre tournament and lost all 3 games in their group, failing to score even one goal.

This rendition of the team will be striving to hit new heights. Under the direction of Head Coach John Herdman, who took over the Canadian Men’s Program in 2018, after great success with the Women’s Team. Canada has shown a newfound confidence and been playing an amazing brand of Soccer (Football) with his leadership. Coach Herdman has formulated a talented squad convincing our best players, playing across the world to represent the red & white instead of the other countries they would typically play for which players hold dual citizenship.

Team Canada is led by our two most talented players Alphonso Davies (21 years old) who plays with Bayern Munich and won the Bundesliga in 2019/2020, capping off the season with a Champions League Title.  Many Soccer fans and experts consider the speedy defender as the best Left Back in the World. Jonathan David is the other big-name player who is making waves now in the French Ligue 1. The (22-year-old) forward helped his Team- Lille win the 2020/2021 French League Title scoring 13 goals, including the game winner against the top team in France PSG, proving to be one of the top form players in the French League. Honourable mention to winger Tajon Buchanan (23 years old) now playing for Club Brugge in Belgium’s top Division. These 3 youngsters represent the future of Canadian Football and mixed with other talented Canadians, including some veterans like (39-year-old) midfielder, Atiba Hutchinson and (34-year-old) Goalkeeper Milan Borjan.  Canada had a healthy mix of youth and experience.

With one game remaining Canada leads the CONCACAF standings with 28 points and a (+17 Goal Difference), including key victories over USA and Mexico. The last FIFA rankings in February had Canada in 33rd place, their highest ranking ever. With victories over 12th ranked Mexico and 13th ranked USA expect Canada to move even higher when the new rankings come out later this month.

With Canada firing on all cylinders and showing the World we are a force to be reckon with. Expect an historic performance at the World Cup in Qatar in November/December.  Depending on how the Groups end up, Canada has a legit chance to move out of the Group Stages. The higher our rankings, the more favourable the Grouping possibilities.

Great accomplishment Canada!!!
