International Women’s Day Spotlight: Women in Business

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate strong women everywhere. The women who raised us, cared for us and mentored us. In honor of International Women’s Day, we are highlighting women who are successful in their field. We have interviewed Brinda Luckoo, President of Inovva Media inc.

UU: What is your role at Inovva?

Brinda: I am the President of the company – my role is to map out our strategic direction to ensure continuous growth and make sure that we bring the right solutions to our clients.

At Inovva we develop and maintain our proprietary cloud-based software to manage subscriptions and donations. They are designed to drive recurring revenues and innovation. I am proud to say we are much more than just another cloud-based software company – we also offer a seamless and holistic approach by providing a full range of complementary services including digital marketing, customer service and circulation management.

UU: How has Inovva handled the transition during Covid-19?

Brinda: At Inovva we have multiple teams dotted all over the country and our primary objective was to make sure that everyone was safe. We started working remotely in early March and have found the transition to be quite smooth. Clear communication with our clients has been key in making sure that we continue to meet our clients’ needs and expectations. We have onboarded new clients during Covid without missing a beat. I really foster a spirit of collaboration and this has never been truer than during Covid. For example, we connect daily with different team members with a virtual catch-up meeting. Of course – we have missed the human interactions for sure – but it’s great to see how flexible and adaptable the team has been. I have also enjoyed the virtual social events too!

UU: Have you learned or discovered any new skills or hobbies since Covid?

Brinda: I am sure that I am not the only one who has learned to bake during Covid. I am happy to say that I have made a lot of different recipes from bread rolls to challah bread! Our teams have shared photos and recipes which has been another fun way to connect. Some of our team members are real chefs!

UU: What is something new or exciting that you see coming up in your industry?

Brinda: Every company is looking to technology to help them with making their business more efficient and more profitable. This is exactly what we strive to do for our clients – whether that’s to help them launch a membership for their subscribers or to find new ways to retain your best donors. Accelerating digital growth is a top priority for many businesses.

At the end of the day – I believe that it’s vital to have a sense of curiosity. It’s important to always be open minded, to learn new things and be open to new opportunities to drive innovative solutions. I learn from my team and our clients every day and that’s one of the best part of my job.

UU: What does it mean to be a successful woman in business?

Brinda: Being a successful woman in business means that you need to constantly adapt to ever-changing situations and not to let fear prevent you from making the right decisions.

As someone who runs a tech company – I am always reminded that it’s all about the people who are part of your team. Running your own business can often be tough and frustrating – but it is also fun, exhilarating and an incredible rollercoaster. This year has especially taught me that it’s about leaning into challenges as well as maintaining a strong belief in yourself and your team.
