Hulu’s latest series Pam and Tommy is now available for streaming on Hulu and Disney +. For those of you not old enough to remember the scandal that the show follows, Pam and Tommy takes place in the mid-90’s right after personal home videos are stolen from the home of Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee.
Late last summer Hulu released a first-look photo of Lily James and Sebastian Stan in costume as Pam and Tommy. The actor’s resemblance to the drummer and actress created a lot of buzz- particularly James’ prosthetic transformation into Pamela Anderson. The make-up team for the series has already received high praise from the public for the uncanny resemblance they’ve given James’ to Anderson.
The new series also stars Seth Rogen as Rand Gauthier- the carpenter hired by Tommy Lee in the 90’s to renovate his Malibu mansion. After being fired by Lee, Gauthier broke into Lee’s home and stole a safe, which included the infamous sex tape. One can assume any project Rogen is attached too is going to be a comedy. However, given the dramatic content the series is centred around, it is easy to assume that Pam and Tommy would be a dramatic series. The first three episodes were released on February 2 and by the second episode it is clear Hulu has another hit comedy on its hands. It is one extremely R-rated scene in particular that has audiences in stitches. If you’ve already had the joy of watching this episode, you know exactly what scene I’m referring too. Anderson and Lee are in a hotel room in Cancun, Mexico in 1995 and Lee is having a conversation with a familiar…friend (hilariously voiced by Jason Mantzoukas) about how he believes he has finally found the love of his life in Pam. This scene is just one of many ways the show makes light of its mature content.
Despite being streamed on Disney + this is not a show you want to watch with the kids in the same room. The only negative about the show is that you have to wait for new episodes weekly. Pam and Tommy is the kind of series you’ll want to binge all at once.
