One week into the Games and the Canadian Olympic Team continue to make us proud!
We have now won 12 total medals (1 Gold, 4 Silver & 7 Bronze) which places us tied for third with the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). Norway and Austria are tied in first place with 14 total medals and Germany has the brightest glitter with (7 Golds). Germany is just behind Canada and ROC with 11 medals captured.
Here are the six new medal winners for Canada since our last Olympic Edition:
James Crawford from Toronto, Ontario won Bronze in Alpine Skiing – Event (Men’s Alpine Combined)
James comes from a Skiing family. His sister Candance and Aunt Judy have represented Canada in the past as National Team Members. After placing 4th in the Men’s Downhill and 6th in the Men’s Super G Events. Crawford was able to get on the podium in the Men’s Alpine.
Steven Dubois from Terrebonne, Quebec won Silver in Short Track Speed Skating – Event (Men’s 1500M)
After falling short in the Mixed Team Relay. Steven was able to capture Silver in the Men’s 1500M. With 2 events left Dubois can potentially add to his medal count in the Men’s Team 5000M Relay and Men’s 500M Individual Events.
Team Canada wins Bronze in Freestyle Skiing – Event (Mixed Team Aerials)
Marion Thenault from Sherbrooke, Quebec. Flavie Aumond from Montreal, Quebec. Miha Fontaine from Magog, Quebec. Lewis Irving from Quebec City, Quebec, and Emile Nadeau from Prevost, Quebec joined forces to earn a Bronze medal in this Team Event.

This 20-year-old youngster nicknamed Elio pulled off an amazing run in the finals, falling just short with a last second push for the Gold Medal. Eliot will try to add to his medal count in the upcoming Mixed Team Cross Event.
Meryeta Odine from Prince George, British Columbia won Bronze in Snowboard – Event (Woman’s Snowboard Cross)
This 24-year-old young lady nicknamed Eta held on finishing in 3rd place to get onto the podium. Meryeta will join her teammate Eliot in the upcoming Mixed Team Cross Event, this weekend.
Isabelle Weidemann from Ottawa, Ontario won Silver in Speed Skating – Event (Woman’s 5000M)
After winning Bronze in the Women’s 300M Event. Isabelle added a new shine winning the Silver in the 500M Event. She still has the Women’s Team Pursuit Event to try and upgrade her Bronze & Silver to a Gold this weekend.
There is a lot more opportunity for Canada to add to its medal count this weekend and the second week of the Olympic Games.
Including Team Events like Ice Hockey and Curling where Canada has historically performed well in and usually see us on the podium.
Let’s continue to cheer our fellow Canadians on and hopefully we can earn more Gold Medals and hear our National Anthem get played across this World Platform!
