5 Gift Ideas for the Teen on your Shopping List

I don’t claim to be an expert on teenagers, but I do have one. And I know there’s peer pressure on teens to have the latest and greatest. If it was up to him, my son would be getting court side seats to a Raptors game, a wide assortment of Raptors fan gear, an Apple watch, Beats headphones, a new gaming headset and a few other expensive techie toys for Christmas.

But in the name of balance and moderation, (sorry, parents are so boring, aren’t they?), I refuse to go overboard especially on the tech. And I hope that one day, he will appreciate it that his parents didn’t give him every expensive goodie he asked for.

This Christmas, I’m thinking hobbies, health, coziness and ok, a little tech.

Ok, first a little tech. The amount of gear and gadgets on the market is bit overwhelming so I’ll leave the deep dive on tech options to someone else. But I will say a cool gaming chair seems like musts these days. Check this out:

Now, how about introducing a practical hobby? 15 year old boys are big eaters. So help him become competent in the kitchen with:

And add in a father/son, mother/son, family or solo cooking activity.

Teens are not just big eaters but they’re also big sleepers. They’re growing like mad and need the sleep. But does your teen have trouble waking up in the morning? Even the deepest sleeper would wake up to this alarm clock.

Teens can also be couch potatoes/gaming chair potatoes. To keep him healthy and moving, how about introducing a new game to play with friends or family? Spikeball is fast, active and competitive (if you want it to be) with 2 on 2 action. It’s a good way to shake off too much holiday eating and sleeping and get the energy up.

And on those cold winter days, who doesn’t like a cozy afternoon at home? With the amount your teen has probably grown since last Christmas, it’s probably time for some new pj bottoms, their go-to weekend wear. There are so many fun pairs that it’s hard to choose but they’re also inexpensive so it’s easy to buy a few.

Happy Holidays to all!
