Diabolo Menthe
This refreshing drink comes from my days living in Paris – most café will serve this especially during the summer month. it is a lovely drink for all ages and is very popular with kids due its bright green hue! This also makes it a lovely festive drink and is incredibly easy to make!
There are a couple of variations to this drink based on how sweet you like it. The French name for this drink is ‘Diabolo Menthe’ or Peppermint Soda in English.
Version 1 – less sweet and fewer calories
Per person:
150 ml (5 oz.) club soda
30 ml (1 oz.) green mint syrup
The club soda should be very cold. :Pour the Mint sirup in a tumbler type of glass and add the Club Soda – make sure that you mix it well add some ice cubes if desired.
Version 2 – with Lemonade – this is a sweeter version that kids will love!
Per person
150 ml (5 oz.) Lemonade (such as 7up or Sprite)
30 ml (1 oz.) green mint syrup
The lemonade should be very cold. Pour the Mint sirup in a tumbler type of glass and add the lemonade – make sure that you mix it well and add a couple of ice cubes if wanted.
You can also add a few springs of mint and to make this drink even more festive – you can decorate with some candy canes!
You can easily turn this drink into an alcoholic beverage by adding 2 oz of vodka.
